Finally Home

What a fun racing weekend, and can you say "one happy camper"! Yes, that is a driver in that photo with me. It is my driver Ryan Newman. I was able to meet him on Saturday at a special appearance promoting his Pit Road Pets book, where all the proceed from the sale of this book go to the Ryan Newman foundation, to help out the Humane Society of Catawba County's capital campaign to build a no-kill animal shelter in Hickory, North Carolina. So my book was signed, along with my #12 baseball cap. A fun meeting and can you say cutie!

Overall, the entire time there was a good time! The men were lucky enough to get a special tour of the garage area and pit road (photo's coming soon). The person who took the men on this tour, was suppose to take us gals to meet Bobby Labonte (who is one my all-time favorite driver), but this didn't happen, so there was no meeting. Don't worry Lance, Kelli & I won't forget that one.

Now if you are a race fan, I'm sure you found the race exciting. Lots of suspense at the ending, when it was a guessing game, if there would be enough gas in Jr's gas tank to finish the race. So this made for a race to remember, but seeing Jr winning here after not winning a cup race in so long, was good to see.

Quiet Wednesday

Donna Downey's two newest books, Fabric Scrapbooking and A Photos-First Approach to Designing Layouts, plus a decorative storage box, has arrived here today in the mail. I haven't had a chance to read them yet, but if they are anything like the other 3 books from Donna, then they will be good, and a must get item. After I get a chance to go through them I'll let everyone in on my thoughts about them.

Actually that is about the only exciting thing I have to post today - Now I am going to ask you two question and if you want to answer them, you can post a response in the comment section.
1. What is your favorite song you are listening to right now?
2. If you watch tv, what would be your favorite show right now?

Reminder - Don't forget to watch American Idol Give Back tonight. I will be waiting to see Bono (U2 lead singer) - a man on a powerful mission.

Books & Tools a Perfect Combo

This book from Stacy Julian is really good! I've had it for a few weeks now, so I thought it was time to share with everyone that this book gets my two thumbs up about it, it's a great system to organizing your photos. Lately there has been a lot of books that have come out that I really needed when I got into this hobby. I sure would've been one organized crafter by now. As for where to find this newest book, the only place I could get it from was Simple Scrapbooks. I'm sure in time it will be available through Amazon.

I have a few craft items that need to get done. I am working on some ATC's for the swap I got sucked into.. but it's a good one, right Amy! wink wink I also need to work on my Deck of Me cards, that should get done this week, since I have some extra time to work on them. Gosh I don't think I shared with everyone the new toys that are now in my craft room. I finally broke down and bought these two items to take up space in my room.
Aren't they cute! That Bind-it-All machine is amazing for making your own books, and if you want something to cut paper faster then a trimmer can, the Dreamkuts is a dream of a tool. I love how the paper cuts like butter with this machine, and how fast it can get those pages cut for a book. Fun tools and very useful!

Me and My Books

Really what can I say - I like books and here are the latest ones I have read.

If you are looking for a really good book to read right now, I highly recommend Marley & Me, by John Grogan, this book is really good. I can honestly say I wasn't expecting this book to be all that good, but oh was I wrong. I found myself laughing out loud several times throughout the book. That's probably because I could relate to many things this dog did and how the owner felt. Reading this book was like reliving the time we had with our dog Shelby who was a lab. Even when I got to the ending of the book it really hit home. I really seriously give this book two thumbs up and rank it a must read book.

You did't think I wouldn't have a scrapbook related book to share with you. Of course I do. This one is from Autumn Leaves - Design with Series, and since I have them all, I had to add this one to the collection too. Plus you will find Emily Falconbridge in this one, and what I seen of her work in the book, it alone is worth getting this book. But really overall this is a really good book and if you ever get in a rut, it would be one to pull out and get you going again.

blizzard condition & book shopping

Yep, I believe the two can go together, because this is what I did today. Oh I did go to work this morning, we had a staff meeting. By the time the meeting was over with, they shutdown the schools, this was due to the major winter storm we were getting hit with. (you know the one the news repeated over and over that was suppose to hit, and actually did) Well since I was in town and was very near a Barnes & Nobles, what better way to go home in a blizzard, then stop by a book store and pick up some good reading material, seriously who knows if we might get snowed in for days or something. Hey, you must think ahead sometimes, because when you do, you can also make a blog post with some very cool books to tell everyone about, and lets not forget maybe a blizzard pictures, added in for effect.

This book is so full of inspiration, I cannot wait to begin reading it. I am going to highly recommend this one. I also picked up the new Artful Blogging (thank you Christi for posting on your blog), I highly recommend this one too, it is put out by Somerset Studio. Now the next fun book I picked up today, boy B & N can be dangerousOh, I must share what it looks like out my window right now - can't see a darn thing. LOL
