Happy Halloween!!

Sarah and I will be heading out tonight, so she can gather her treats. Our weatherman is saying that we are suppose to have rain showers, but I am crossing my fingers that it will hold off until we are home.

This year Sarah is going as a witch. I swear this child has been a witch every year. But this year she will be sporting some purple hair. The witches hat she picked out has this lovely purple hair attached to it, and this child of mine is so excited that it does. I just hope this isn't a sign to what is to come down the road. I don't care to see my child with changing hair color. I would also like to know how her dad manages to get out of the trick or treat duty. By the time he gets out of work, it will almost be time to be done trick or treating. I swear he makes a special request to work on this day. Just kidding but it is funny how his work schedule always works out this way.

Now I better go see if my batteries are charged for the camera. I must get another witch costume picture tonight.

Bad Blogger Me.....

Hanging head in shame for not posting anything in a few days. I have been really busy with work this pass week, and then when I do finally get home from work, I have spent 4-5 hrs typing out documents. So I haven't felt like typing much after doing all of that. But this weekend looks like it might be a good one to do some catching up on things. That's the plan.

In other news, my sister made it home safely from CA. She was in San Diego for a Vet. Conference and she was there when the fires started. She said where she was, it was mainly smoke in the air, but she heard stories from people that were getaway from the raging fires. I just feel so bad for everyone who has been affected by these fires. Hopefully they will get these fires under control soon.

I have to give a shout out to my friend Christi, she has started a new blog, to get you creative mojo going. Here is a link to her new blog - http://creativeprompts.blogspot.com/ Everyone should really check it out. Christi does a great job showing you inspiration, to get your mojo going. Way to Go Christi!!

Yes, I was here...

The one and only halfway looking picture I have from the concert. I just had my cell phone with me, and you would think after owning this cell phone for as long as I have, you would think I would have the picture taking part of it down pat, but I don't. So this left me with with very little to view from the concert. But, hey I was there, and if you asked my ears, they would tell you so too. I think the ring has stopped now. Of course it has been two days, the ringing should be gone. LOL

As for the concert it was Awesome! The old boys can still rock, and they still can put on one heck of a show. Well worth every penny those tickets cost. We actually had pretty good seats, but you couldn't tell that from that pic I posted. And I believe they played for 2 1/2 hrs. So we heard a lot of Van Halen, and they stuck to a lot of their older stuff, which I was happy about. I can now cross this group off my must see list, and hope I get a chance to see some of the other bands I have on that must see list.

Fall Colors and a Concert...

In the past 3 days our trees have really started to change colors. So I thought I better grab the camera and get a couple of pictures of them, before all the leaves fall off of them. Because it won't be long now, before that happens, and they will become bare looking, and nothing to look at.

If you start with this first photo I took, this would be left of my house and would lead into the second photo, which is what I see when I look out my scraproom window. So you see there isn't much to look at around our home, except for trees, so when they do turn color, it gives you a little extra to look at.

In a few hours, I will be heading down to the Motor City aka Detroit. To the place we call Hockeytown aka Joe Louis Arena. The home of the Detroit Red Wings hockey team. Where I will be seeing Van Halen perform tonight. It should be an exciting concert, it's getting great reviews so far. Plus we should have a fun adventure today. We are planning on doing a few things prior to the concert, while we are in Detroit, also the reason we are leaving early on this road trip.

As I posted the other night we got hit by some nasty storms. So after signing off the computer. I decided it was a no better time to work on this weeks art journal challenge from Emily. This weeks prompt was Magic Carpet and where would yours go. I put Ireland on mine, because it's a place I would love to go and visit. On my card I used Rusty Pickle pp, then with a gold gel pen I outlined all of the design that was on the pp, then I took some Basic Grey (color me silly) fiber and put it on the end edges, to create a magic carpet look. I then used Maya Road rub ons (destination word & airplanes), and American Craft sticker letters for Ireland. I also did a little hand doodling with a black gel pen. Since I am suppose to practicing my doodling. I do believe this is the first time I am completely caught up on the Emily challenges before the next prompt. It's a good feeling.

Stormy Night...

The rumbling is starting outside, and lightening is flickering away out there, and here I am typing in my daily entry. According to our weather person we are suppose to have some major storms tonight, these storms can include hail, tornado's and very gusty winds. Oh yippee, NOT! It doesn't sound like a good night sleep will be in store for tonight, they are saying these storms can last until 4 AM, just in time for my alarm to go off. If you would like to see our little storm you can check out www.wnem.com.

Well Ugly Betty is starting in about 5 minutes, so I am going to curl up in a blanket and enjoy my Thursday nights shows. I may even practice some of my doodling. Plus it is getting bad here quickly.

Book Reviews

I guess I didn't get to this yesterday. Shoot I can't even remember what I did yesterday. LOL But I will try and give a little review at what I have been reading lately.

Yes, I read this! It took about a day to read, and I have to say I was not disappointed reading this one. I found what she wrote interesting, and that this book did explain who she is and why things have happen the way they have in her life. So if you need something to read, this one could be the one for you to read. Like I said it is a quick read, and you might find a thing or two interesting in the book.

I have started to read this one, and I love it so far. Linda and Karen really take you on creative journey with this 2nd book of theirs. I love it! Now if you are looking to see traditional scrapbook layouts, this might not be the book for you. But if you want to get in a creative mood, then I highly recommend this one. Not only do they give you great tips to get going in your creative process, they are funny about it too. I also do think even if you don't find traditional scrapbook pages in this book, you will find things in here that can be applied to your work. It will help jump start you if you get into a rut in your creative process. Also you might learn something fun to do, when you need an creative outlet. This gets two thumbs up from me.

The book that I had searched everywhere for and finally got, was not a disappointment. I have been working myself through this one too, and enjoy what I am learning about creating my workspace to more my style. I also have to say just seeing the many rooms that they share in this book, has also been a big help and also fun to look at. Of course I would love one of these ladies to make a house call to my home and put my room in order for me, but I don't this that will happen any time soon. Another good book!

I am also very inspired by Doodling for Paper Crafters, by Maelynn Cheung. I am also taking her class on this subject. Let me say I love both the book and the class. I am so not a doodler but with this book and her class I am giving it a stab at it and have actually learned a thing or two about doodling. Also in this book I got to see a friend of mine layout published it in. Linda Peterson did a awesome layout in it with a photo of Shannon on it, and some great doodling designs on the layout. I love seeing when my friends get a chance to share their layouts in publications.

I also have another new book, but I haven't even cracked the pages on that one yet. It's titled Collage Unleashed, by Traci Bautista. And since I haven't had a chance to look at this one yet, I cannot share anything about it yet. But once I have time to do so, I will give you my thoughts on it. I can say the cover is great looking. LOL

So, this is my little book review for now.....

Time to Share...

So far today I have done nothing but sat at my scrap table and finish up my last three Em cards.

Week 38 - I wonder (my take is What's Next)
Week 39 - Someone Special (I said Somebody and this is Don)
Week 40 - Not Anymore (No More Her - Only makes sense to me)

Now I can say I am all caught up on these, until today new subject is posted. And I can say it's a good feeling to be caught up once again.

This is my dress form that I shared about some time ago. But now it is all dressed up, and is now decor in my scrap room. I did not do this beautiful work, it is the work of my Mom, she used her creative skills and made my dress form look fabulous.

Tomorrow I hope to be back with some book reviews. I have finished Rosie's book, but will share more about that tomorrow, and hopefully along with Revolution Journal review.

Not late yet...

to make a post for the day.

I don't want to ruin a perfect week on the blog.

I did get my copy of Revolution Journal today, but I also got a couple of other books. And this being part of the reason I am going to be a bit short on this post. I picked up the new Rosie book and I haven't been able to put it down yet. If I didn't have to work today, I'm pretty sure I would've finished the book in a days time. The book just flows and so far a pretty interesting, with that being said, I will now be heading back to read some more. Now that I have made my post on the blog for the day.

Just Because....

I don't have much to say today, but since I've been on a good roll this week posting everyday, I thought I been say something on here.

I did have a message on my answering machine from Barnes and Nobles today, that my copy of Journal Revolution came in. Yea!!! They had to order me a copy of this book. I really can't wait to see this book. If you don't know what I am talking about, check the September post on my blog. I showed a copy of the book in there. The authors of this book did such a great job with their other book, I just had to get this one. Not only are they creative people, they are also very funny. It should be a good one. I will be reading this one over the weekend, and will write about it when I'm finished.

Now to finish watching Grey's.

Artist?

Ok week 37 Em card was to draw something, and since I had a doodle assignment to do. I thought I would combine them and take care of two projects with this card. So my drawing is of a paisley, and there will be no laughing, this is the first time I have drawn one before. I also used Sakura 3-D Crystal Lacquer pens to color it in. I'm pretty proud of myself about using these. I have had them in my collection for about 3 yrs, and never used them before. You know it was one of those must have products, but it gets forgotten in the collection of other products.

Three cards done and three more to go and I'll be caught up again on my Em challenges. Yes the HS clock is still not finished.

Catch Up Time....

Well I finished week 35 and 36 Em cards. Only 4 more to be all caught up again.

Left side - Week 35 - Strength ( Elsie products used on this one) I feel you get strength from a good home life. So this is what this one is about. I do not like how I used the glaze pen on here and may change that part.
Right side - Week 36 - Life is Beautiful (Catherine Moore stamps, MM paint, 7 Gypsies PP) Again I went with a home theme, because life is beautiful when you have a happy/good home, behind you. I do think I would've placed things a bit differently if I redid this one.

Off to work on week 37. This should be interesting the topic is to draw something. I am not a person who can draw. LOL

Is it really Fall?

I must ask, only because we are going to see record temps again today. I'm really not complaining about the warm temps, but it's a bit strange to see high 80's in October. Although, by Wednesday these temps are to leave us and much cooler temps will be here.

Well nothing much happening today I am just working my regular job today, and not really doing anything else that is exciting to write about. I did just finish an Em card #35, so that is something, but not that good because we are on week #40, and I am a little behind, but I will get caught up soon. I really enjoy making these and I love the little collection of cards I have so far.

My Short and Sweet post for today!

Saturday Morning....

This was the first thing I saw when I walked out the door this morning. Since I had to take the dog out, because Don is working today, it was my duty to tend to the dog. Since my camera batteries were charged, I decided to grab it and bring it along, and this is what I took a shot of. Nothing exciting but it was what I saw first. The sun was hiding behind the clouds, and a bit of fog on the ground, and a little Fall look on the tree.

See I have been telling you that I am working on altering my HS clock for some time now, and as you can see this statement is true, and I do have something started, but of course it is not finished, and it still looks like this on my table, but soon I will finish this and add it to my clock that is ticking away on my wall. Of course by the time I finish it, I'll have to replace the batteries in the clock. LOL

Today is National Card Making Day. I'm pretty sure I won't be making any cards today, but I will be at Mom's store where there will be lots of ladies making cards today, so does that count as participation in the card making day? I am claiming it is. LOL I do know I will be getting my second Clip it Up today. Mom got them in the other day and I am in real need of another one, since I have filled up my first one, and now have a new pile of products that need to be hung on something, so I will be bring home a second one, so these products can be hung up properly. Have I said how much I love this storage item? If not, I must say I really do. It's my favorite storage item I own.

It's True.....

I actually worked on something today. No not the HS clock that is still sitting on my table half finished. But I did put together a journal for a class I am taking. So I quickly put it together today, and I actually scanned it and posted it. Yes, I shocked myself, but it felt good to do some work at the scrappy table. I still have to finish my clock, and complete 5 Em cards, and then I will feel like I am back in the swing of things.

In other happy news. Today I was asked to go to the Van Halen concert on the 20th of this month. So in about 2 weeks, I will be heading down to the Joe Louis Arena (where the Red Wings play) and see a classic rock band perform. I'll be shocked if David Lee Roth can still jump like he used to do, back in the day. LOL

Well it's Grey's night and I am watching it right now. It's interesting so far. But I must talk about the new show that aired last night "pushing up daisies". I have to say I really liked this one. I didn't think this was going to be one that I would add to my must watch list, but it is on there now. I thought it was a really good show.

Happy Friday Eve!

The Dog Post...

Anyone what a dog? Kidding about that, but at the moment I forgot how much work a new puppy is, and the phase where they like to chew things. We are coming into that phase right now and I want the dog to live through it. LOL That darn dog has gotten to my new Adidas flip flops, so it looks like a new pair will be in need for next year. Thank goodness the Summer season is coming to an end. I would probably be more upset if it wasn't.

Have to give out a little shout out to Scott for being Mr. October for the company Luxe. His work will be featured throughout the month of October, and I do have to say he designs some nice work. If you get the chance check it out.

I also have to send out a Hello to Kelli. Her work has sent her out of town this week, and I know she is not to happy about having to do this, and since she is my blog lurker. I just want to tell her. I hope your week goes by quickly and it won't be too bad there. You need to come home with some energy, so you can celebrate your birthday in style. You know your not getting any younger, and I don't want you to be too tired to celebrate that birthday. LOL
(you know I had to say that)

For those of you who don't know Kelli. Kelli is a friend of mine and we have been friends for about 27 yrs. and our birthday's are about a week apart and she doesn't let me forget that I am that week older then her. So if I get the chance to dish some of it back at her, I do. Of course, I do try my best to do so, but she just laughs. So BFF I do hope your week out of town isn't to bad.

Happy Tuesday Everyone!
